Ralph J. Riviello, 79, Dunmore, died Friday in Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. He and his wife the former Gilda Vitali celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 16th.
Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Gerald and Mamie Pettinato Riviello and was raised in Old Forge. He served as the 1961 class president of Old Forge High School and later as reunion chairman. Ralph earned a degree from Lackawanna Junior College and then obtained a bachelors degree from the University of Scranton in 1982. Prior to his retirement he worked in sales for the Holly Label Company.
Ralph was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore where he served as lector, usher, and on its Parish Pastoral Council. He was a well-known fan of both Penn State and the New York Yankees and was formerly an active member of the Penn State Club of Scranton.
Also surviving are his children, Ralph Riviello and husband Bear, San Antonio, TX, and Loriann Riviello, Archbald, his grandchildren, “The Twins” Noah and Arron Fontanella who were his pride and joy, and two brothers, Gerald Riviello and wife Carol, Milford, Delaware, and Francis and wife Mary Jean, Pittston.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., in Dunmore. Interment will take place in the Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
