Joseph J. Rescigno

Joseph J. Rescigno, 81, of Dunmore, passed away on Sunday afternoon at home. Survivng is his wife, the former Joan Sebastianelli. The couple was married for 58 years.

Born in West Scranton, he was the son of the late Marion Kowalchik. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School’s Class of 1959 and a graduate of The University of Scranton where he received a master’s degree in Economics and Marketing. Prior to retirement, he was an account manager at IBM Corporation and was also the proprietor of the former Classic Bride in downtown Scranton.

In his younger years Joseph was a baseball and softball player.  He was a former member of Elmhurst Country Club where he won many tournaments. He enjoyed nature, gardening and taking walks around Lake Scranton. He was an animal lover and especially adored his cats. He was a huge fan of Penn State Football and the Boston Red Sox. Joseph enjoyed to travel especially to his favorite place, Sanibel Island. He was well known for his distinguished and dapper style and will be sadly missed by his loving family.

Joseph’s family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Rogan and the nurses and staff of Traditional Home Health and Hospice for all of their care and compassion.

Also surviving are daughters, Lynn Rescigno, Pittsburgh and Leigh Ruddy and husband Robert, Dunmore. Grandchildren, Casey Rose Ruddy and her partner Brandon Caba, Dunmore and William Ruddy, Brooklyn. Nieces and several cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Rescigno.

There are no public services at this time.
