Ann Katherine Staniszewski Obituary

Our mom, Ann Katherine Staniszewski, 86, of Scranton, passed away Wednesday night without a wrinkle on her face and with Lee by her side at Terrace View after a tough and sad fight with dementia.

Ann was born in Scranton to Carl and Alma Engle Weissman on either February 20th or 21st, 1936 (The great debate!). Mom worked very hard at PG&W, GoldStar, Holy Cross, Mercy Hospital, Marywood, and Conte’s Restaurant.

Being a very talented seamstress, Ann could patch, fix, and hem anything at a moment’s notice (especially Boy Scout uniforms, with 5 Eagle Scouts to her credit).  Mom’s greatest quality was best said by her grandson Justin, “Grandma accepted everyone for who they were and always welcomed them.” This held true when it came to Scott’s crazy friends and employees, especially Big Mike.

Mom had wonderful friends; Aunt Barb, AnnMarie, and Barb Domenick, to name a few.  She found great joy spending countless hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which was filled with playing, crafting, and cuddling under blankets while watching movies.

We would like to thank the staff and doctors at Terrace View, as well as Dr. Tomczyk and the nurses at Geisinger 65 Forward.  We are eternally grateful for Cookie Dreisbaugh, who loved Mom unconditionally and nurtured her love of angels, Kelly Nelson Davis, who always went above and beyond in Mom’s times of need and whom Mom undeniably adored, and Jimmy Zaydon, who would fix anything for Mom at any time.

Mom is survived by her oldest daughter and caregiver, Lee Anne (does she ever stop talking) Baron, over sixty years of a large pain in her rear and favorite son Scott, daughter Julie Toole (her golden child) and husband Terry; grandchildren, twins Justin and wife Heather, Jason and wife Lindsey, Amanda and fiancé Alex, Doctor Jeffrey, Jacob, Ethan, Sarah, and Addison; great-grandchildren Hunter, Riley, Noah, Azalea, Zinnia, and Stella; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Willard and Robert Weissman.

Mom was always known as the cool mom and aunt. We love you Mom and miss you already.

A private funeral will be held.
